TikAPI alternative: ScrapingBot vs TikAPI

TikAPI is a TikTok-only API that can also act on behalf of logged-in accounts. ScrapingBot reads public TikTok data with no accounts at all, alongside Instagram, Google and Amazon. Here is how they compare.

TikAPI and ScrapingBot overlap on public TikTok data: profiles, videos, sounds, comments, followers and search. They split on two questions. Do you need to act as a TikTok user, and is your volume shaped by the day or by the month?

How we compared

ScrapingBot is our product. TikAPI facts come from its pricing (the public plan data behind it at api.tikapi.io/app/plans), its API documentation and its help desk, checked in October 2026.

The short version

Pick ScrapingBot if

You need public TikTok data at volume: Starter covers 275,000 TikTok calls for $49.99, with no daily cap.
You want Instagram, Google or Amazon data, or arbitrary web pages, on the same key.
Your agents should call TikTok through a hosted MCP server.

Pick TikAPI if

Your app acts for TikTok users who log in: DMs, posting comments, live control or creator analytics.
You want official JavaScript and Python SDKs and a free sandbox server to build against.
You need to choose the country a request appears from; TikAPI's public endpoints take a country parameter.

The TikAPI figures assume a 30-day month at the full daily limit: Starter is 300 × 30 = 9,000 requests for $29, or $3.22 per 1,000. Days you don't use don't carry over. Bandwidth can run out before requests do if you download media; extra bandwidth is sold separately.

Daily caps vs a monthly pool

TikAPI counts your requests over the last 24 hours, starting from your first request. On Starter, the 301st request in that window returns 429 with "API Key Rate-Limit reached." That is predictable for a steady trickle and awkward for batch jobs: walking a viral sound with 5,000 videos takes about 500 pages, nearly two days of Starter's allowance.

ScrapingBot has no per-day number. The same 500 pages cost 500 credits and finish as fast as your concurrency allows, and the remaining credits stay available for the rest of the month. The trade-off is that unused credits don't carry into the next month.

Coverage

Public endpoints line up closely. TikAPI has /public/music and /public/music/info for sounds, comment and reply lists, followers and following by secUid, and search for users, videos and autocomplete. ScrapingBot has the matching /music/posts, /music/info, /comment/list, /comment/reply, /user/followers, /user/following, /user/search and /feed/search. ScrapingBot's follower lists return one page of up to 50 accounts.

Beyond that, TikAPI is the only one of the two that can sign in as a user, which is what you need for inbox tools, scheduling or creator dashboards built on a creator's own analytics. ScrapingBot instead adds Instagram, Google and Amazon data on the same balance.

Migrating from TikAPI

TikAPI uses one GET path per endpoint with an X-API-KEY header. ScrapingBot uses one POST URL with the endpoint in the body. The videos that use a sound, before and after:

// Before: TikAPI
const res = await fetch(
  "https://api.tikapi.io/public/music?id=7682907287056337667&count=30",
  { headers: { "X-API-KEY": process.env.TIKAPI_KEY } },
);
const page = await res.json();
const items = page.itemList;
const next = page.hasMore ? page.cursor : null;
// After: ScrapingBot
const res = await fetch("https://scrapingbot.io/api/v1/tiktok", {
  method: "POST",
  headers: { "x-api-key": process.env.SCRAPINGBOT_KEY, "Content-Type": "application/json" },
  body: JSON.stringify({ endpoint: "/music/posts", params: { music_id: "7682907287056337667", count: 30 } }),
});
const page = (await res.json()).data;
const items = page.videos;
const next = page.hasMore ? page.cursor : null; // send back as params.cursor
TikAPIScrapingBot endpointMain parameter
/public/check/user/infounique_id
/public/music/info/music/infomusic_id
/public/music/music/postsmusic_id, cursor
/public/comment/list/comment/listvideo url, cursor
/public/comment/reply/list/comment/replycomment_id, video_id
/public/followers, /public/following/user/followers, /user/followingnumeric user_id (not secUid)
/public/search/users, /public/search/videos/user/search, /feed/searchkeywords

Two things change in your parsing. TikAPI returns errors as {"status": "error", "message": …}; ScrapingBot returns {"success": false, "error": …} with a matching HTTP status. And ScrapingBot's videos are flat objects (video_id, title, play_count, digg_count, author.unique_id), so map those fields once. /user/info returns data.user and data.stats with TikTok's own names, such as followerCount.

Common questions

How much does TikAPI cost?

TikAPI's plans are Starter at $29 a month (300 requests a day, 500 MB of bandwidth), Pro at $79 (2,000 a day, 2,000 MB) and Business at $189 (10,000 a day, 5,000 MB), with quarterly and yearly discounts. Checked October 2026 from its public plan data.

Is ScrapingBot cheaper than TikAPI?

At the low end, yes. Used to its daily limit every day, TikAPI Starter works out to about $3.22 per 1,000 requests and Pro to $1.32. ScrapingBot Starter ($49.99 for 275,000 credits) costs $0.18 per 1,000 TikTok calls. TikAPI Business at full use is about $0.63 per 1,000.

Can ScrapingBot post comments, send DMs or read creator analytics?

No. ScrapingBot only reads public data and never logs in to TikTok accounts. TikAPI offers OAuth endpoints that act for accounts that authorize your app, including messages, comments, live and analytics, some of them on Business plans only.

Does TikAPI have an MCP server?

We didn't find one on its site, docs or GitHub. ScrapingBot hosts one at scrapingbot.io/api/mcp, so Claude, Cursor and other agents can call the TikTok endpoints as tools.

What does each one rate-limit?

TikAPI counts requests over a sliding 24-hour window and returns 429 once you pass the plan's daily number; bandwidth is capped monthly. ScrapingBot has no daily cap: you can use the month's credits on any day, with a limit on concurrent requests (10 on Starter, up to 200).

Does ScrapingBot have SDKs like TikAPI?

No. TikAPI has official JavaScript and Python SDKs. ScrapingBot is plain HTTPS with one POST per platform; the docs show Python, Node.js and cURL for every endpoint.
