How the engagement rate is calculated.
We take the account’s most recent videos (up to 10) and, for each one, add up its likes, comments and shares. Then:
- Engagement rate by views = (likes + comments + shares) ÷ views, for each video, averaged across the videos. It tells you how many of the people who watched did something.
- Engagement rate by followers = average (likes + comments + shares) per video ÷ followers. It is the figure most media kits use, and it can top 100% when videos travel far beyond the follower base.
What is a good TikTok engagement rate?
There is no official benchmark, but by views most accounts land somewhere between 3% and 9%, and above 10% is strong. By followers, the spread is much wider because one viral video can outweigh the whole follower count. Compare accounts of a similar size and niche, and look at several videos rather than one.
Saves are not included because TikTok does not show them for every video. Pinned videos are counted if they are among the most recent.
