TikTok has no general-purpose public API, so every team that needs TikTok data at scale picks a third-party provider. They differ more than their landing pages suggest: one bills per call, one per result, one by a daily quota; some cover twenty platforms and some only TikTok; one can act as a logged-in user. This guide compares the seven options developers actually shortlist.

The seven: ScrapingBot, ScrapeCreators, EnsembleData, TikAPI, Apify's TikTok actors, Bright Data's TikTok Scraper API and TikTok's own Research API. Every price and limit below comes from the provider's own pricing page, documentation or public plan data, checked on October 3, 2026, and each section links its sources. Where we couldn't verify something, we say so.

Disclosure

ScrapingBot is our product. We have tried to be as specific about its limits as about anyone else's, and every number here can be checked against the linked pages. Run your own test before you decide; the last section explains how.

Key takeaways

  • Compare the billing unit first. Per call, per result, per record and per daily unit are not interchangeable; a single call usually returns a page of around 10 videos.
  • Lowest price per call around $50 a month: ScrapingBot, $0.18 per 1,000 calls. ScrapeCreators is $1.88 on its $47 pack, EnsembleData about $2.22 on its $100 plan, TikAPI about $3.22 on its $29 plan.
  • Most platforms: ScrapeCreators (20+). Acting for logged-in users: TikAPI only. No-code with downloads and transcripts: Apify.
  • Credits that never expire: ScrapeCreators. Daily quotas (EnsembleData, TikAPI) reset whether or not you used them.
  • The official Research API is free for approved non-commercial researchers and closed to commercial use.

Price per 1,000 TikTok calls

The fair comparison is cost per 1,000 of the same kind of request on a plan near the same budget. For call-based APIs that is easy. For quota-based plans it assumes you use the whole allowance every day; for per-result pricing it depends on how many results you need.

Provider (plan)Price per 1,000How it's derived
ScrapingBot (Starter, $49.99)$0.18 per call$49.99 ÷ 275,000 credits; every TikTok endpoint costs 1 credit
ScrapingBot (Startup, $99.99)$0.09 per call$99.99 ÷ 1.1M credits
ScrapeCreators ($47 pack)$1.88 per call$47 ÷ 25,000 credits; most endpoints cost 1 credit
ScrapeCreators ($497 pack)$0.99 per call$497 ÷ 500,000 credits
EnsembleData (Wood, $100)$2.22 per 1-unit call; $4.44 per 2-unit call1,500 units × 30 days = 45,000 units
EnsembleData (Platinum, $1,400)$0.93 per 1-unit call50,000 units × 30 days
TikAPI (Starter, $29)$3.22 per request300 a day × 30 days = 9,000 requests
TikAPI (Business, $189)$0.63 per request10,000 a day × 30 days; bandwidth capped at 5,000 MB
Apify TikTok Scraper (Starter plan)$3.00 per resultPay per result; $1.70 on Business
Apify TikTok Sound Scraper (Starter plan)$4.00 per videoPay per result; $2.00 on Business
Bright Data TikTok Scraper API$1.50 per recordPay as you go; $1.30 on the $499 Scale plan

A worked example shows why the unit matters. The first 1,000 videos that use a sound take about 100 calls on ScrapingBot, because TikTok returns around 10 videos per page: roughly 100 credits, or 2 cents on Starter. With Apify's Sound Scraper on its Starter plan, the same 1,000 videos are 1,000 results: $4.00. A single profile lookup narrows the gap: one call against one result.

Official SDKs: EnsembleData (Python, Node), TikAPI (JavaScript, Python) and Apify (Python, JavaScript). ScrapeCreators offers a CLI. ScrapingBot has none; every endpoint is a plain HTTPS POST.

ScrapingBot

ScrapingBot's TikTok API has 11 endpoints: video details with media URLs, profiles by handle or numeric ID, a creator's posts, followers and following, user and video search, sound details, the videos that use a sound, comments and comment replies. Every call costs 1 credit, failed calls are refunded, and the same credits buy Instagram (5 per call), Google and Amazon (10) and website scraping. Plans run from Starter ($49.99, 275,000 credits, 10 concurrent requests) to Business+ ($999.99, 15.5 million, 200 concurrent), and a hosted MCP server exposes the endpoints to agents.

Limits, stated plainly:

  • Credits refresh monthly and don't carry over, and the free tier is 100 credits once, not a monthly allowance.
  • No transcripts, TikTok Shop, live, trending or ad library endpoints. If you need those, look at ScrapeCreators or Apify.
  • Followers and following return one page of up to 50 accounts; you can't page through a large follower list.
  • No official SDKs. You call plain HTTPS; the docs show Python, Node.js and cURL.
  • Public data only. No logged-in actions, and video search is the only endpoint with a region parameter.

ScrapeCreators

ScrapeCreators is a pay-as-you-go social data API with prepaid credits that never expire: $47 buys 25,000 and $497 buys 500,000, and most endpoints cost 1 credit. It lists 20+ platforms, with TikTok endpoints for profiles, videos, sounds and their videos, popular songs, comments, replies, followers, search, transcripts, live, trending feeds, TikTok Shop and the ad library. It has no account-level rate or concurrency caps, a hosted MCP server and a CLI. A response cached with cache_max_age costs nothing.

Watch out for: at $1.88 per 1,000 calls on the $47 pack, high steady TikTok volume costs several times more than on monthly-plan APIs. A few endpoints cost more than 1 credit (the TikTok audience endpoint is 26). There's no blanket failed-request policy on the pricing page, though several endpoint descriptions say failures aren't charged. ScrapingBot vs ScrapeCreators goes deeper.

EnsembleData

EnsembleData sells monthly plans with a daily unit allowance that resets at 00:00 UTC: Wood ($100, 1,500 units a day) through Platinum ($1,400, 50,000 a day). Most TikTok endpoints cost 1 or 2 units, including the videos using a sound (1), comments and replies (1 each) and followers (2). It covers TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Threads, Reddit, Twitch, Twitter and Snapchat, publishes official Python and Node SDKs, and says it doesn't enforce rate limits. No units are charged for failed requests caused by its own errors.

Watch out for: a daily allowance can't absorb bursts, and units from a quiet day are gone the next. The entry plan is $100. Authentication is a token query parameter, so keep it out of logs. Its pricing page and docs disagree on what user posts cost. ScrapingBot vs EnsembleData works through a bursty example.

TikAPI

TikAPI is TikTok-only. Its plans cap requests per sliding 24 hours and bandwidth per month: Starter ($29, 300 a day, 500 MB), Pro ($79, 2,000 a day, 2,000 MB) and Business ($189, 10,000 a day, 5,000 MB). Beyond 17 public-data endpoints, including sounds, comments, replies, followers and search, it offers OAuth endpoints that act for TikTok accounts that authorize your app: feed, messages, comments, live and analytics, some reserved for Business. Every public endpoint takes a country parameter, and there are official JavaScript and Python SDKs and a free sandbox.

Watch out for: the lower plans are expensive per request ($3.22 per 1,000 on Starter at full use), the daily cap returns 429 once reached, and media downloads eat into the bandwidth cap. We found no failed-request policy and no MCP server. ScrapingBot vs TikAPI has the endpoint mapping.

Apify TikTok actors

On Apify, TikTok data comes from community "actors". The most used, Clockworks' TikTok Scraper, charges $3.70 per 1,000 results on the free plan, $3.00 on Starter, $2.30 on Scale and $1.70 on Business. The TikTok Sound Scraper is $5.00, $4.00, $3.00 and $2.00 per 1,000 videos, and the Comments Scraper $1.25 down to $0.50 per 1,000 comments. Apify adds what a plain API doesn't: schedules, hosted datasets, webhooks, a console, video downloads, transcripts and AI summaries as add-ons, a hosted MCP server, and thousands of other scrapers.

Watch out for: per-result pricing gets expensive for list-heavy jobs, add-ons and a per-run fee add to the bill, and a synchronous run returns 408 after 300 seconds. ScrapingBot vs Apify compares the two models.

Bright Data TikTok Scraper API

Bright Data sells a TikTok Scraper API priced per record: $1.50 per 1,000 on pay-as-you-go, or $499 a month for 384,000 records ($1.30 per 1,000). It includes 5,000 free records a month and states there are no charges for failed deliveries. Bright Data also sells ready-made TikTok datasets, priced at up to $2.50 per 1,000 records with a $250 minimum order.

Watch out for: it is built for enterprise data pipelines, the per-record model has the same list-job arithmetic as Apify's, and we did not compare its TikTok fields endpoint by endpoint.

TikTok Research API

TikTok's own Research API is the only official route to public TikTok data at scale. Qualified researchers in the US, Europe, Canada and Brazil can apply; approval takes about four weeks, and the work must be non-commercial. Approved projects get 1,000 requests a day (up to 100,000 records) and can query videos by music_id, username or hashtag. When it launched in 2023, TikTok announced it as free of charge for US academic researchers. New videos can take up to 48 hours to appear and statistics up to 10 days to update.

Watch out for: commercial users, creators and advertisers are not eligible, according to its FAQ. The Display API is a different product: it only returns data for users who log in to your app and grant access.

How to choose

  • You need public TikTok data at volume, steady or bursty: a per-call API. ScrapingBot is the cheapest per call on entry plans; ScrapeCreators if you also need many other platforms.
  • Your usage is occasional: ScrapeCreators' non-expiring credits or Apify's monthly $5 free usage waste the least.
  • Your users log in with TikTok and you act for them: TikAPI, or TikTok's own Login Kit and Display API.
  • You want no code, schedules and downloads: Apify.
  • You need datasets or enterprise contracts: Bright Data.
  • You are an academic researcher: apply for the Research API first.

How to test a TikTok API before you buy

Every provider here has a free tier or trial. Spend an afternoon on the same three tasks with each:

  • Walk a whole sound. Pick a sound with a few hundred videos, page until the API says there is no more, and compare the count with the sound's own video count.
  • Check pagination edge cases. Short pages in the middle of a list, duplicates across pages, and what ends the list.
  • Pull a creator's full feed and spot-check views and likes against the app.
  • Force a failure (a deleted video, a bad handle) and see what you are billed.
  • Measure the cost of your real month, including the endpoints that cost more than one unit or credit.

For ScrapingBot, the sound export script does the first test in one command on the free credits.

Frequently asked questions
